Unit 1: System Design

  • Task 1: Review customer expectations
  • Task 2: Review project criteria
  • Task 3: Assess project site
  • Task 4: Configure mechanical design
  • Task 5: Configure electrical design
  • Task 6: Configure system monitoring, control, and communications design
  • Task 7: Prepare project documentation
  • Task 8: Secure permits and approvals
  • Task 9: Adapt system design

Unit 2: Installation

  • Task 1: Develop safety plan
  • Task 2: Safeguard against hazards
  • Task 3: Install raceways
  • Task 4: Install electrical equipment
  • Task 5: Install DC PV system conductors
  • Task 6: Install AC PV system conductors
  • Task 7: Install grounding and bonding systems
  • Task 8: Complete utility interconnection point
  • Task 9: Install system monitoring, control, and communication hardware
  • Task 10: Install battery equipment
  • Task 11: Install ground-mounted structure
  • Task 12: Install building-mounted system
  • Task 13: Install PV modules

Unit 3: System Commissioning

  • Task 1: Review or develop commissioning protocol
  • Task 2: Complete visual and mechanical inspection
  • Task 3: Conduct mechanical tests
  • Task 4: Conduct electrical tests
  • Task 5: Verify system operation
  • Task 6: Confirm project completion
  • Task 7: Orient end user to system

Unit 4: Operations & Maintenance (O&M)

He is a solar installer and is the founder of Solar Systems of Indiana and cofounder of Southern Indiana Renewable Energy Network. He served on the Board of Directors at MREA from 2018-2024.

What if I need financial assistance?

Waivolt's Solar Hero program waives up to 100% of tuition for qualified applicants. People from disadvantaged backgrounds, military veterans, and those currently unemployed are encouraged to apply. Even if you don't fit those criteria, apply anyway — if your story resonates, you can still qualify. We won't let cost be the barrier to entering the solar workforce. Students remain responsible for NABCEP exam fees and any outside study materials.

Will this course prepare me for the NABCEP PV Installation Professional Exam

Yes this course covers the NABCEP PV Installation Professional Job Task Analysis and is developed by IREC Certified Master Trainers in PV. It includes practice exams and is intended to help you pass the NABCEP PV Installation Professional Exam. Passing the exam requires a great deal of studying and preparation.
