Alexander Jarvis

IREC Certified Master Trainer - Lead Course Developer

Alex Jarvis has been working in the renewable energy (RE) field since 2006. He has been an instructor for the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) since 2009.  He is a solar installer and is the founder of Solar Systems of Indiana and cofounder of Southern Indiana Renewable Energy Network (SIREN). He served on the Board of Directors at MREA from 2018-2024.

Alex has devoted his career to solar education and advocacy. As a PV technical advisor for Purdue University, Alex helped guide Purdue's entry to a second-place overall finish in the 2011 International Solar Decathlon competition held in Washington DC. He is the technical editor of Wiley’s “PV Design and Installation for Dummies”. Alex has logged over 1500 teaching hours for solar training courses across the Midwest and at Solar Power International Conferences. He and his company, Solar Systems of Indiana have installed or consulted on nearly 100 renewable energy systems across the Midwest.

As a North American Board Certified Energy Practitioner (NABCEP) certified solar PV installer, Alex believes that compliance with the NEC is critical to all installations. “Alex is the renewable energy superstar,” Michael Beczkiewicz, networking coordinator of SIREN says. “I consider him one of the greatest resources for renewable energy, especially photovoltaic.” Jarvis and two colleagues created SIREN in 2006 with the hope of educating the community on and developing interest in renewable technologies.
